Cake at the heart of the community
When it comes to festive favourites, Ditters takes the cake. The iconic South Australian brand is celebrating 50 years of its famous gourmet fruit cakes, made in Adelaide to an original recipe since 1969.
"It's a significant milestone for South Australia, the fact our cakes have been enjoyed across so many generations," Ditters' joint managing director Matt Johnson said.
The company may have changed owners over the years but its commitment to South Australia remains as firmly rooted as ever. "Today it is a very small but still proud South Australian company with a big past and, we hope, a big future," Mr Johnson said.
"We outsource production to South Australian-owned companies, which generates jobs in the local economy."
Giving back to the local community is also at the heart of Lions Australia, which every year donates the sales of its traditional Christmas cake to local causes, such as those affected by the recent bushfires in South Australia.
