Last week, we officially opened our Adelaide Arcade store in the presence of family and friends, the Ditter family, and honoured guests. Hosted by Renew Adelaide, the evening began with sponsor drinks and delicious Ditters tasting cups followed by some wonderful speeches and a formal ribbon cutting ceremony.
Guests were warmly welcomed by Daniela Ritorto, our Master of Ceremonies. The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Dr Jane Lomax-Smith AM, spoke on the fact that there is more parking in our CBD than any other in the country on a per capita basis and on the joys of shopping in beautiful spaces like Adelaide Arcade. She urged everyone to get behind the return of Ditters by making purchases now, over Christmas, and throughout the year. Adelaide Arcade General Manager, Andrew Jonats, then spoke on behalf of Adelaide Arcade and Renew Adelaide, followed by owners of Ditters, Matt and Esther Johnson.
Matt thanked all the key people involved in the brand over the decades and acknowledged key supporters, partners and suppliers. He remarked, “Opening a Ditters store in Adelaide Arcade is another milestone towards reviving the much-loved Ditters brand”. Esther shared, “In our world today, there is often much hype and noise made over superficial things. That’s why we have worked quietly over the past 6 years to make [this return] a story worth telling.” Fondly known as ‘Mr South Australia’, Keith Conlon OAM, told the story of Otto Ditter, founder of Ditters, and the ribbon was then cut by the Lord Mayor to many cheers.
The substance of Ditters in 2025 is that it is still a South Australian family business, and the nuts are good. They’re very good. They’re even the best in Adelaide. And the range of products on offer again is exciting and delicious.
So, the Ditters story now continues into its 108th year. Will you support it, and will it still be here in 10, 20 or 50 years? For the sake of history and nostalgia, we truly hope so!
