You'll usually be the only Ditters team member physically present in the shop, so this role suits someone who genuinely enjoys working independently.

You'll look after the everyday customer experience and presentation of the store, including:

• welcoming customers and providing warm, attentive service;

• helping customers choose from our range of nuts, dried fruit, glacé fruit, chocolate, cakes and gifts;

• learning our products and sharing that knowledge confidently;

• processing sales and customer payments;

• preparing and packing purchases;

• replenishing stock and maintaining attractive displays;

• keeping the store clean, organised and beautifully presented;

• following food handling and hygiene procedures;

• completing established opening and closing routines; and

• keeping management informed about stock, customer matters or anything requiring further attention.

You'll have clear procedures to work within and support when you need it. You are not expected to manage staff or take on the responsibilities of a Store Manager.

We're less concerned about whether you've held a management title and more interested in how you work.

You’ll help us provide the warm, personal service our customers expect from Ditters, including:

• welcoming customers and helping them choose products and gifts

• providing information and making appropriate product suggestions

• processing sales and payments through our point-of-sale system

• preparing, wrapping and packing purchases

• replenishing shelves and keeping displays full and beautifully presented

• checking pricing, labels and product presentation

• offering tastings or samples when required

• keeping counters, displays and customer areas clean and orderly

• completing routine opening, closing and store duties as required

• following Ditters procedures for food handling, customer service and store operations.

The position is a Retail Employee Level 1 role and does not carry staff management or overall store management responsibility.

Please note: This role involves working independently in our Adelaide Arcade store, including some evening shifts finishing at 9pm. Applicants need to be comfortable working independently, able to follow established start-of-shift, end-of-shift and security procedures, and have reliable arrangements for travelling to and from the Adelaide CBD for evening and weekend shifts.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• warm, friendly and confident dealing with customers

• attentive to detail and presentation

• reliable and able to follow established procedures

• comfortable learning about our products and helping customers make selections

• happy to stay busy with replenishment, packing, cleaning and presentation between customers

• comfortable working independently when required

• flexible and dependable during the Christmas period.

Availability is particularly important for this position. You must be available throughout the six-week period from mid-November through to Christmas Eve, including evenings until 9pm, Saturdays and Sundays, and be able to accept some shifts at relatively short notice.

You’ll also need to be available for training during early November.

Christmas is one of our busiest times of year, with customers visiting us for gifts, entertaining, baking and favourite Ditters traditions.
